OZZY Osbourne's near- fatal accident last December has left him fearful of becoming dependent on painkillers - again - and wondering if he'll ever perform again. "I'm really frightened," Osbourne tells Diane Sawyer tonight on "Primetime Thursday" (10 p.m. on ABC/7), "because music is the love of my life . . . and performing . . . the thought of not being able to do that anymore frightens me."

Osbourne, 55, was seriously injured Dec. 8 at his estate in Buckinghamshire, England, when he lost control of an all-terrain vehicle and crashed. He broke his left collarbone, eight ribs and one vertebra.

His wife told a British newspaper that Osbourne had stopped breathing for up to a minute and a half and briefly had no pulse. He was resuscitated by a quick-thinking security guard and rushed to a hospital.

As he makes his recovery, Osbourne wears a neck-and-back brace and is taking pain medication, which concerns him because of his addiction history. "I've been fighting that battle [against addiction] for nearly 20 years," he says. "I can't just stop."

The accident was only the latest in a series of woes for the Osbourne family. Sharon battled cancer last year and Jack did a stint in rehab.

In addition, Sharon learned recently her syndicated talk show will not be renewed for a second season. In tonight's interview, she makes light of the cancellation.

Tonight's interview is a huge "get" for Sawyer since it's the first time Ozzy, Sharon and their two children, Kelly and Jack, have talked on TV about Ozzy's accident.

The interview comes on the heels of Sawyer's sitdown with Mel Gibson Monday night in his first TV interview about his controversial new movie, "The Passion of the Christ."

Tonight's interview is Sawyer's first prime-time chat with the Osbournes, who were interviewed by Barbara Walters the first two times they appeared on ABC, in September 2003 and November 2002.

Rocker Ozzy Osbourne is defying doctor's orders to go on the road for his famous Ozzfest tour this summer, so a medical team will be there by his side.

The ex-Black Sabbath star is still convalescing after his near-fatal 4-wheeler bike crash in December, and his medical advisors have told him he still needs at least six months to recover from his injuries - but Osbourne is determined to perform at the Ozzfest.

A source tells the Pagesix website. "His doctors have said he needs six to eight months of rehab, which will end exactly when Ozzfest begins.

"His doctors did not want him to do the tour, but he insisted, so he is planning on having a team of doctors travel with him. Onstage, Ozzy will have several well-placed chairs and poles to assist him if he should need to sit or stand during performances."

However, a representative for Osbourne counters, "There will not be a slew of doctors on the road."

In their first joint television appearance since a December accident that almost ended in tragedy, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne will speak with ABC News' Diane Sawyer in an exclusive "Primetime Thursday" interview.

Ozzy Osbourne was seriously injured when the all-terrain vehicle he was driving around his estate in southern England flipped over and landed on top of him.

The Osbournes will discuss how their high-profile family has dealt with this latest trauma, as well as other issues, including the recent cancellation of Sharon's syndicated talk show.

The FCC, MTV, CBS and the NFL are all angry about Jackson and Timberlake's risque halftime show. Sharon Osbourne is angry, too -- because she wanted to see more.

"I was very disappointed by it, and all I can say is, `Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake, I love you both and much respect to you, but own it! You did it, own it,'" she said during her syndicated Sharon Osbourne Show, airing Wednesday. "And next time," the talk-show host added, "take both breasts out! Not just one -- both! Come on! CBS says they 'regret the incident' and NFL says they're `extremely disappointed.' Well I was disappointed in just seeing one."

It’s been a rough night for Kelly. Christina Aguilera threw darts at a picture of Kelly while hosting the EMAs. Ouch, that’s a cold slap in the face. But Jack notes that Kelly did call Christina a c*** enough times to merit the violent display. Still smarting from her role in Christina’s target practice, Kelly shoots back that Christina needs publicity because her make-out with Madonna at the VMAs did not generate enough press. Guess these two girls won’t be doing a duet anytime soon.

Unlike Kelly, Jack is having a grand old time because he just turned 18. “Jacky Boy” receives a super sweet BMW (complete with resplendent red bow) from Sharon and Ozzy. Only one problem, as Kelly points out, Jack doesn’t know how to drive. That will certainly put a kink in his plans to go to Mexico in the new car. Empowered by his new form of transportation, Jack tells Kelly he plans to get a pirate flag tattoo because he “wants to be a pirate, sail the seven seas, and rape and pillage.” Kelly questions whether Jack has seen Pirates of the Caribbean too many times.

Now that he has the car, Jack just needs to learn how to drive it. No problem, right? He and his assistant, Amanda, hop into the new SUV and spend some time practicing parallel parking. Well, the practice session isn’t going so well and it’s capped off when Jack backs into a parked car. The physical damage is minimal but Jack’s confidence has to be hurting going into his driving test.

When did driving become so hard? Jack has to endure a gauntlet of challenges in order to get that license--the eye test, written exam, questions on the functions of his car and the proper hand signals, and (finally) the actual driving practical. Whew! Things don’t get too tricky until Jack soaks his instructor with windshield wiper fluid and can’t remember his hand signals. He has some minor mistakes like turning right when his instructor asks him to get in the left lane. Otherwise, Jack does a first-rate job (especially, considering his recent accident) and he passes! The only downer is his heap of hair won’t fit into the picture on his license. Bummer.

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 5 - Sharon became soap star for a day - and she's got the inside scoop straight from the "Days of Our Lives" set! Sharon shares footage and gossip from the day she spent with the cast of the long-running soap opera.

Sharon Osbourne will play the role of Pam, a teacher who offers to share a tent with Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney). The offer ends up being scarier to Sami than sleeping with her ex-hubby Lucas (Bryan Dattilo). Viewers can look for Osbourne's behind-the-scenes look at her experience on "Days of Our Lives" on "The Sharon Osbourne Show" (check local listings) Thursday and Feb. 9.

As most of you know Jack Osbourne was on TRL, Mtv with his new hair cut. OsbournesofOz.org just wants to say "WTG Jack for the change. It looks great, compared to the Ja'fro. Change is good."

"The Sharon Osbourne Show," the syndicated daytime talk show hosted by the wife/manager of Ozzy Osbourne, has been reportedly been canceled. Produced by Time Warner's Telepictures, the program has posted increasingly lower ratings since it debuted last September. According to Nielsen Media Research, the show started off last year with an average 1.5 rating (or about 4 million U.S. viewers for syndicated programs) but now the show has dropped out of the top 25 syndicated shows posting a 1.5 rating or higher.

Osbourne reps have confirmed the cancellation but had no comment on reports that Sharon had asked to be let out of her contract following Ozzy's severe ATV accident in December. A Telepictures spokesperson denied that the talk show was officially canceled, although several sources involved with the show confirmed the it is ceasing production. It has not been announced when the last episode will air.

Osbourne, star of MTV's reality comedy "The Osbournes," has been cast in the Touchstone TV drama pilot, which Stu Bloomberg is executive producing. Based on British author Melvin Burgess' controversial young-adult novel, "Doing It" centers on the sexual antics of three 16-year-old Seattle boys: Dino (Sean Farris), Jonathan (Chris Lowell) and Ben (Jon Foster) (HR 12/10).
